I have used many bocce sets and have been playing for years. I have never had a set break before, even after smashing hard and repeatedly on rocks. I purchased this set because I wanted a set that stood out from others and looked nicer. I will never do that again. On the very 1st time that I used this set, a ball broke in half. I was playing on a grass field, and the ball hit a small rocks on the field. Broke right in half in 3 pieces.

I am writing this review under my father's name who purchased this set for me as a birthday present. I was very excited for the unique design and to be able to play with my family. The concept of a classy set is brilliant but the quality of the balls takes away from the art of the balls. The "clear" sections of the balls were very foggy and when looking down on the clear sections, you notice the poor craftsmanship in the colored middles of the ball. Several of the balls had visible scratches on the colored sections. The "red" and "green" colored sections are also not the hue seen on the pictures. They are more flat and less vibrant than I was expecting. Game play is fun but we find ourselves being cautious as we play because we found that the balls scratch and chip easily. After our first round of playing, we noticed that one of the balls had an internal crack and that there were scuffs and scratches from them hitting each other. Also, game play is difficult because the jack (pallino) is not as brilliantly colored as seen in the pictures. The jack I received was clear resin with a little bit of the orange swirled inside. A very artistic idea but there isn't enough orange to define the ball as "orange". Instead, it's clear and when playing it looks clear which makes it difficult to find if thrown in grass.
I like the set but this is probably only because I enjoy the game. The set is very different but it definitely does not look like the pictures and the craftsmanship is poor. For the price, you could get a sturdier set that looks just as good, just not quite unique.
Also, along with what others have said, the balls are on the heavy side which is fine for me but many of my friends say they are very heavy and made their arms ache the next day.
If you like to be one to bring/have something to/at parties that people will talk about, this is great for you; but if you are looking for a quality set that looks great too, I would not recommend this product.

I purchased this set off my friend's wedding registry. This bocce set is incredible! They are truly unique - the resin is see through, and the small orange ball nearly glows. They are functional and make for a great conversational piece. LOVE THEM!
