Not impressedAug 22, 2010 *The "small/medium" size is enormous. With the straps fully tightened, it barely fits me. I'm a 28 year old woman, small but not unusually small. Who was this made for?
*It itches.
*It is tremendously ugly. Beige, bulky, and the cloth along the top of the arm scrunches up like a cinched plastic bag. Great if you're going for the "injured and unkempt" look, I guess.
*The strap around the middle wraps all the way around the forearm and attaches to itself with velcro. This means that there is an uneven pull on your wrist.
*I've seen minimal to no improvement since wearing it.

The only thing keeping me knitting and typing!Jul 12, 2010 I developed carpal tunnel syndrome back in '95, after working retail all through college and a couple years out. Through a combination of repetitive denim folding and always being assigned to the same register (using my left hand to key all the time), I started waking up with a numb left hand. It eventually hit my right hand too, as I started to favor the left. I went to an orthopedic surgeon, and when my hands went numb within 30 seconds, he said "whoa, that's bad". I was instructed to buy wrist braces and take a heavy duty anti-inflammatory drug. The pills made me nauseous, so I stopped them, but the braces worked wonders. The first set I got were by Futuro, but then there weren't that many brands at the time. I've tried a few other brands since, but always come back to Futuro. I currently have this pair I'm reviewing, and they seem to get better with every tweak they make to the design.
I've lost count of how many pairs I've had in the past 15 years, maybe 5 or 6? I don't have to replace them that often, they really seem to hold up for me. One reviewer mentioned the metal splint poking through very quickly, but I've only experienced that with mine after wearing them for a couple years. Perhaps he got a bad batch, or maybe I've just been lucky.
The original ones I bought in '95 didn't have the best velcro, were hot and sweaty, had no padding and caused chafing near the thumb hole. They also smelled like a stinky foot, even with weekly washing. But they were my only option if I was to function, so I stuck it out. They've improved the design with every incarnation, and these are great. The padding at the palm really makes a difference, the strap across the top of the thumb is a soft terry cloth-like material, and the edges are softer than they were in the past. I wear them at night, and occasionally during the day when I've had a marathon typing/crafting session and they go numb during the day. Right now, they seem to be worse than usual, so I'm happy these braces feel as good as they do, because I'm getting my money's worth. I have no plans to have surgery since I've gotten mixed reactions from doctors, patients and from what I've read, so until I no longer have a job where I use a computer (not likely), and no longer knit, paint, garden and make jewelry (god forbid!), I'll be wearing my Futuro braces (and possibly knit little covers for them - the beige is so...not my skin tone, and definitely not cute).

Never got itNov 01, 2009 It was 'claimed' apparently lost by USPS. I didn't buy it from them a second time.
Instant ReliefOct 14, 2009 The frequency of my wrist pain and lost of grip strength has been increasing over the past few months... decided to break down and purchase a set to see if it would help. Within 2 hours of having them on, it seemed liked my circulation improved... after a day, the chronic wrist pain I was having for the past week ceased... Well worth the expense.
I haven't had a chance to see a doc about this, but suspect it is probably due to a combination of factors (2.5 hours per day driving, anywhere from 6-10 hours per day on laptop, lack of gym time).
The only issue was the "break-in" period. The left brace was slightly different than the right brace (manufactured at different times due to slight variance in color of the materials). The "comfort" piece above the thumb irritated the skin for a few days, so I war it on the outside of the thumb to stretch it a bit and is fine now).

Carpal Tunnel PainSep 15, 2009 This is an absolutely necessary product. I fyou have carpal tunnel and wake up at night in pain this will stop it immediately.
It worked for me. If you are at a computer buy this product anyway. Ii will help you prevent carpal tunnel and maybe avoid surgery.
But one for each hand.
